AXXERON Hydrolux

Modular Die Cushion Systems

Highly dynamic force-profile control for deep-drawing processes – as a subsystem or complete 360° solution including commissioning.

AXXERON Hydrolux S.à r.l. > Products > Modular Die Cushion System

The modular die cushion system by AXXERON Hydrolux consists of a main cylinder with integrated position measuring system, accumulators, a hydraulic power unit, and several hydraulic manifolds. The system can additionally be extended with control software libraries and hardware components.

The Die Cushion Manifold is flanged directly to the cylinder and includes a side mount for a separate Accumulator Adapter Manifold with bladder accumulators. This design forms a compact, rigid hydraulic system that enables highly dynamic control. Control is implemented via a separate hardware and software module. This control software reduces pressure build-up overshoot and enables customer-specific force profiles with high precision.

What Components Make Up the System?

The modular die cushion system by AXXERON Hydrolux includes a complete drive system – from the main cylinder to the control software. Depending on your needs, we supply individual subsystems or the complete solution including commissioning.

01

Hydraulic Power Unit

Supplies the system with the hydraulic volume needed for motion (high-pressure pumps, filter/cooling unit). Standardized modular kit system with fixed components (pumps, motors, manifolds) – flexible in layout to adapt to your individual site conditions.

02

Accumulator (Bladder Accumulator)

Direct mounting via Accumulator Adapter Manifold – no additional piping required.

03

Servo Valve

Moog servo valve for highly precise, dynamic force control in the drawing process.

04

Safety Elements

Safety-related elements integrated directly into the Die Cushion Manifold – for safe press operation.

Modular Die Cushion System

Frequently Asked Questions

Design, Function, and Application

What is a die cushion system?

A die cushion is a device in a hydraulic or mechanical press that applies a defined force to the sheet metal part during the drawing process (also known as blank-holder force), thereby making controlled forming possible in the first place.

How does the system reduce force overshoot?

A separate control software actively regulates pressure build-up in the die cushion block and implements customer-specific force profiles with high precision – instead of a fixed, unregulated force curve.

Can I order just a subsystem instead of the complete solution?

Yes. The scope of delivery is customer-specifically scalable – from a single subsystem to the complete 360° solution including commissioning.

Are analog or digital valves possible?

Both are possible – the modular concept allows the use of analog or digital valves depending on requirements.

Which press types is the system suitable for?

The modular die cushion system fits hydraulic, mechanical, and servo-mechanical presses as well as more complex press lines.

How many die cushion axes are possible?

The system is configurable for 1, 2, 4, 6, or 8 die cushion axes – depending on the requirements of the press.

What happens if a module needs to be replaced?

Good accessibility to the main components enables easy maintenance. Since modules are pre-tested before delivery, commissioning and start-up time is also reduced in case of a replacement.
